Message from the Board of Directors

“May you live in interesting times!” may or may not have been an ancient Chinese curse. But the phrase, popularized by Robert Kennedy Senior in the 1960s, certainly applies today.  With all the changes going on in Washington and the backlash we’re starting to see in many states, it seems to me it’s more important now than ever to build and maintain my professional network.  And I believe there’s no better place to do so than through AHMP.

If you haven’t yet renewed your membership for 2025, I’d encourage you to renew now and to take advantage of all that membership has to offer.  If you have renewed, encourage just one friend or colleague to join.  And consider attending or presenting at the Hazmat Summit, or having your company exhibit or sponsor.  See below for details.

In This Issue:

Speaking of the Summit, consider making a holiday of it. Come early for the Kentucky Bourbon Festival in nearby Bardstown or stay after for Bourbon & Beyond, the World’s Largest Bourbon & Music Festival. Or check out Louisville’s many other museums, attractions, and events.

Chapter & Section leaders – don’t forget to start collecting your annual report info.  Also, consider taking advantage of the new option to have the National office maintain your website.  You provide the content and the AHMP administrative staff will do the rest.  Now we can even include one custom email address that will redirect to the email address of your choosing. Details are available on the Chapter Resources webpage (login required).

Your Board is here to serve you, our members.  If you have any ideas for program or are interested in becoming more involved in AHMP committee work or other activities, please reach out to any of us.

AHMP Executive Committee Chair

IHMM News

IHMM Joins ASAE Executive Steering Committee on Tax Reform in Washington
Driving Business Growth and Profitability with Modern Occupational Environmental, Health and Safety Practices

As part of IHMM’s on-going process of communicating the value of our credentials and the critically important work of our credential holders, IHMM is a part of a coalition called the Intersociety Forum [ISF], made up of IHMM, ASSP, AIHA, and several dozen other groups.

We have a unique and powerful opportunity for the safety community to come together and present a unified voice to the new administration on key occupational environmental, health, and safety priorities that are essential to business success and workforce resilience.

The ISF Core Principles Document, Driving Business Growth and Profitability with Modern Occupational Environmental, Health and Safety Practices, is the result of a collaborative effort across leading safety organizations. While each organization will continue to share its own message, this document amplifies our collective priorities, ensuring they are communicated at a critical time.
