CHMM Recertification

Earning Certification Maintenance Points (CMPs) is easy when you get involved with the NMSHMM. Getting involved provides many opportunities to earn Professional Development CMPs. A minimum of 100 Professional Development CMPs are required over each five year recertification period.

How Can You Earn CMPs?

Earn 1 or more CMPs at most general Chapter meetings and facility tours where educational or professional development presentations are provided. NMSHMM works hard to provide thought provoking presentations on environmental, health, safety and security topics. NMSHMM brings in government and private sector experts to speak about regulatory updates relevant to the CHMM credential. Our tours take you to many varied work places highlighting environmental, health, safety and security (EHS&S) issues specific to each facility. NMSHMM tracks member attendance at these events for recertification.

Earn 20 CMPs per year by holding a leadership position as an officer, or as a standing committee chair, of the RMC. NMSHMM maintains records of those serving in leadership positions for recertification. This information is posted on the NMSHMM web site for your use.

Earn 3 CMPs per hour when you teach modules at the annual Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management (EHMM) course held each fall.

Earn 5 CMPs when you prepare and present an original topic at a NMSHMM general Chapter meeting.

Earn 36 CMPs and get a great, comprehensive EHS&S refresher by taking the EHMM course again.

Whenever you earn CMPs from any NMSHMM activity, we will provide documentation for your recertification process. Come join us for fun and educational meetings, social events and tours.
